Keys and Orders


This reference is usually accurate for the latest HE Beta Demos.
For reference about the older demos please read readme.txt files that come with your demo.

User interface keys

Key Description
Escape instant Exit game in intro screen
or Menu On/Off in game
ENTER Send Message mode on/off in network game. Also messages typed here will be visible during replays
TAB Radar (mini map) ON/OFF
Ctrl+TAB Radar (mini map) Zoom In/Out. Cycle 1:2 , 1:1, or 2:1 depending on map size
HOME Invulnerable CHEAT in single game. DO NOT USE in Multiplayer games
PAGE UP Give me money CHEAT in single/network game
END Fast build On/Off CHEAT in single/network game
DELETE Fog Of War ON/OFF Cheat
INSERT Shadows ON/OFF
CTRL+S Sound ON/OFF
Ctrl+M Music ON/OFF
F4 and HOLD for a while Network Break Connection after network game stall (use only in stalled network games)
F1 Help Overlay ON/OFF. This is a little outdate
F2 Activate Alliances Dialog
F4 Pause/Resume Game On/OFF

Default Right Click Orders

When some units are selected Default Actions can be used by Mouse Right Click.
Such actions ca be done in Game Main Screen even while other actions are done with Mouse Left Click in main screen, mini map or interface buttons.

Holding SHIFT key down while giving any order will place them in order queue instead

A More detailed List of Standard Orders


Please Note that variations can be used by pressing the Alt key while giving the orders

Order Key Button Description
Move M Move Units will move to destination. If no path is found units will find one of the "closest" points to target and move there
Stop S Stop Units will stop at once. Some units may skew a little until full stop
Hold Offensive H Hold Units will stop at once. Some units may skew a little until full stop Units will not move away if attacked but will respond to attack or initiate attacks is enemy is inside fire range
Hold defensive Alt+H Hold Units will stop at once. Some units may skew a little until full stop Units will not move away if attacked and will not respond to attack or initiate attacks if enemy is inside fire range. They will be "sitting ducks".
Usefull when you dont want to disclose your position to nearby enemy
Attack target A + Click on enemy Attack If in range unit will start to fire on target. If target runs away your unit will folow Some Units can loose their targets under The Fog if they have lower speed then target and/or distance is too big
Attack Zone Defensive A + Alt when Click on empty space Attack Unit will go there and watch for enemy while moveing out. If a enemy unit is found on the attack path, your unit will engage ONLY if in fire range. If enemy target is lost (runaway) or killed your unit will continue the initial attack path.
Attack Zone Offensive A + Click on empty space Attack Unit will go there and watch for enemy while moveing out If a enemy unit is found on the path, your unit will engage and take it as a target. It will not let go until enemy is dead. After the target is killed your unit will continue the initial attack path
Patrol Defensive P + Alt when Click on destination Patrol Unit will patrol between curent position and destination (click). Unit will watch out for enemy while patroling. If a enemy unit is found on the patrol path, your unit will engage ONLY if in fire range. If enemy target is lost (runaway) or killed your unit will continue the initial patrol path.
Patrol Offensive P + Click on destination Patrol Unit will patrol between curent position and destination (click). Unit will watch out for enemy while patroling. If a enemy unit is found on the patrol path, your unit will engage and take it as a target. It will not let go until enemy is dead. After the target is killed your unit will continue the initial patrol path
Gather G + Click on resource gather Available only for harvesters.
Unit will start to gather resource and bring it to most close Depozit
Unload U Unload Available only for harvesters that have resources inside.
Unit will resume harvesting and bring its resources to most close Depozit
Repair R +Click on target Repair Available only for harvesters/workers.
Unit will go to the target and start repairing it (if target is damaged)
Cloak C Cloak If unit has enough Stamina it will cloak itself. Cloaked units are invisible to enemy units ie thay cant be attacked unless a Detector is nearby While cloaked units consume Stamina so they will uncloak after a while.
Build B + Select Building + Place building Build Available only for harvesters.
Unit will go to destination spot and start building
Set Rally Point (no key for now) Click on destination spot Rally Point Available only for Buildings that can create units.
New created units will Move there.
